Our previous Guest Speakers for this year are listed here

The May Guest speaker ~

Steve Corbett

Steve Corbett

Our May speaker, Steve Corbett was from the ecentre. [http://www.ecentre.org.nz/ ] The ecentre’s aim is to take a garage project  and to enable it  to become a global business.  Anyone with an original idea for a new product which has definite potential customers may get assistance from this centre.  The examples he gave us were

  • A machine which accurately maps the shape of sewer pipes, looking for deformation and cracking  - now being sold worldwide.
  • An online site [Story Mint] which enables budding authors to have their style evaluated and refined went live on line on Friday 4th May. [http://www.ecentre.org.nz/blog/2012/02/29/the-story-mint/]
  • The future of our country looks quite a lot brighter with this going on

Our Special Interest speaker was John Weatherly who used a power point containing photographs taken by the Geology Group to describe their recent trip to explore the geology of the Rotorua area.  This gave a comprehensive overview of the vulcanism of the region.  This was  very interesting and a credit to all concerned.
